FAQ

Moving

What items should I keep with me and not load on the truck?

You should make sure you pack enough clothing, medications and enough personal hygiene items to last from the date the truck is loaded until the last day of your delivery. In addition, we recommend that you keep valuables such as jewelry, family photographs and household records with you.

Can I load my car and motorcycle into the truck?

Yes! It is possible for us to transport your car or motorcycle with the rest of your items. We can also transport motorcycles.

Are there any items that can’t be loaded on the truck?

For obvious reasons, pets and plants cannot be loaded into the truck. In addition, hazardous materials such as propane tanks, gas cans, paints, varnish, corrosives, batteries, ammunition, explosives, cleaning fluids, detergents and frozen food are not allowed on the truck.

Can I pack items in the drawers of my dresser or desk?

Yes! Light-weight, non fragile items such as clothing and linens may be left in dresser drawers. Other loose items such as pens and office materials must be packed in boxes to prevent damage.

What are moving charges based upon?

Interstate move charges are based upon the weight of your shipment, together with the mileage between origin zip code and destination zip code. Your Apple Valley/Atlas Moving Consultant will be happy to explain the charges on your estimate.

What size trucks do you have?

Our truck sizes range from 12’ long to 53’ long depending on the size of your household, for moves within the state of California. If you are moving out of the state, your move will be transported on a 53′ tractor/trailer.

How far can you move?

At our facility, we have a capability to move your goods anywhere around the globe.

What if something gets damaged or broken during transit?

Apple Valley Atlas offers several options to protect your property. We suggest you review the coverage plans with your moving consultant to select the option that works best for you. Remember, a value of .60 cents per pound is provided at no charge, however you may want to opt for a higher valuation to more adequately cover your belongings in the unexpected and rare event of damage.

Storage

How are my things stored?

Most of your household goods will be stored in large wooden vaults that are loaded at your residence, locked and then placed in our warehouse. The only items that are not stored in these vaults are bulky items such as baby grand pianos, couches, love seats, and recliner chairs. The bulky items are shrink wrapped then placed on our racks.

How do I know my household items are secure and safe in your facility?

Our warehouse and grounds are monitored under 24-hour surveillance. The warehouse is also gated and locked with a full alarm system.

What is commercial storage?

Commercial storage is household goods i.e. sofas, dining tables, beds, and chairs.

Document and Media Storage

How do I retrieve a file I have in storage?

You may retrieve your paper and media documents whenever you need them by either fax, scan or personal delivery to you. We offer this service to you 24/7.

Should I be concerned about storing personal information?

No! New government regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HITECH, HIPAA and Rule 26 attach large fines and criminal FACTA penalties for improper stewardship of data. You will have peace of mind knowing that we are compliant and exceed all of the highest and most current government standards necessary to protect and secure your vital information.

What about document destruction?

Our secure document destruction system completely shreds all documents onsite and is in compliance with all government requirements. We also provide you with a Certificate of Destruction. All shredded material is baled and recycled to ensure your confidential information will not be disposed of in a landfill.
